Airman First Class Pay - Airman First Class (A1C) is the third rank in the US Air Force, just above Airman and below Sior Airman. The rank of Airman First Class is considered the junior rank above which are NCOs and Senior NCOs.

From 1947 to 1952, this rank was "Luftwaffe Corporal". From 1952 to 1967, it was Airman First Class (A1C) and had a pay grade of E-4. Personnel who qualify for these early promotions to Airman First Class wear the rank's insignia during a basic training graduation ceremony at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, except those who have signed up for the extended list. They receive promotion to Airman First Class twenty weeks after completing basic military training or graduating from technical training school, whichever comes first. Name candidates who signed on to the original six-year Listmt terms in exchange for a guarantee of up to two years of training in highly technical specialties such as electronics, weapons systems, Defense Department and Air Force schools. physician assistant or nurse practitioner. To qualify for all of these criteria, an applicant must have completed a high school education and have passed the Air Force Technical Qualification Test. Those who are promoted to this level after completing basic training also receive a retrograde pay grade that brings them to the pay grade of E-3, equivalent to Airman First Class, beginning on their first day of enlistment. In other words, they are paid as if they were listed as first class aviators. However, if they are denied basic training for any reason, they will not receive this additional pay and will only receive Airm Basic pay for the time they have served in the Air Force prior to discharge.

Airm First Class are considered fully adapted to Air Force and military life, and their duties focus on effective performance of duties and improvement of job skills.
