However, the 7.62 heavy bullet has a larger frontal surface area. Thus, it causes more damage by creating a wider wound channel. If you fire an expanding bullet during penetration, this effect can be even greater. (Note that the highly variable AR-15 can be chambered to fire many different calibers. 5.56×45 is considered its default setting.)
A gas operated AK-47 and a straight AR-15 are very different. When adjusting both rifles with a 16-inch barrel, the AK-47 is less accurate. Expect two to five minutes of accuracy with most rifles, as well as one to three minutes with an AR-15.

The price of the AK-74 in this video is about a third of the total cost of shooting an AR-15. It also reminds me of how reliably my AKs perform at the range compared to my AR style rifles. Over the years, AK's have grown in popularity to such an extent that their firepower cannot be beat. Thousands of rounds of carbon pollution? clay? sand Ham sandwich? no problem. The AK-74, like its big brother the AK-47, takes any abuse and keeps on rocking.
