Camp Lejeune North Carolina: In Depth Welcome Center
As this review describes, "Great semi-private upscale neighborhood tucked away in the Croatan forest at the end of Old Airport Road behind the Carolina Colors Subdivision (located one mile south of Creekside Elementary School and ten miles north of MCAS Cherry Point). Ideally located just ten minutes from downtown New Bern or the back gate of MCAS Cherry point. Average lot size is 1.0 acre.
Sneads Ferry is a small fishing village less than thirty minutes from Camp Lejeune and a good option if you want to live closer to the base. Like the surrounding towns, Sneads Ferry is a great place to enjoy the water sports and activities you love.
"We love living at The Landing at Mill Creek. It's a very safe and social neighborhood. The kids play outside and ride their bikes around the loop. The common area behind the houses on the inner circle is perfect for batting practice or playing football . Big enough to feel like you have a park in your backyard! Front circle homes are beautifully crafted and single story, open concept homes. The back yard is screened and huge. Homes are well designed for efficiency and have lots of storage space. I had several empty kitchen cabinets because the pantry was so big!"
While Swansboro is about an hour from Camp Lejeune, it is only minutes from the beach! Because of its proximity to the water, Swansboro is a prime location to take advantage of the outdoor activities you love. It's also a great place to browse small junk and antique shops. And while you're out, don't forget to eat at the Icehouse Waterfront Restaurant!

This review provides more detail: "We really like the Swansboro area and our neighborhood is lovely. Close to downtown Swansboro with quaint shops, restaurants and river views. 10-15 minutes drive and you are in the Emerald Isle.

Not much traffic in the neighborhood, so it's a great neighborhood to walk the dog or go jogging Many homeowners have lived there for a long time.

The community has a dock, boat launch, fishing pier and restrooms as well as access to the White Oak River. You can fish, kayak, paddle, or launch a smaller boat, such as a canoe, with ease.
The old town is also on the water and a few minutes drive away. It was fun to walk around and enjoy all the shops and people. The community always hosts something fun throughout the year. I understand why it is called "the friendly city by the sea". There are many dedicated locals and transplants from all over who have fallen in love with the small town feel. Great place to retire or raise a family and meet fun people!"
