Ar 15 Mossberg - The MMR Tactical stock is based on the Mossberg AR 15. It is equipped with sporting trigger, magazine loader and vortex scope.
The MMR Tactical M-Bow comes standard with a 13-inch floating handguard. The 16-inch long tube ends with a thread that easily mounts an A2 type plasma sheet. Factory installed JM Pro trigger with adjustable resistance. The set also includes a Vortex Strikefire II collimator. An interesting addition is the Magpul MOE+ pistol grip, which is much more comfortable than the standard AR-15 grip.

I own a decades-old Mossberg 5500, a cheap version of the 550 autoloading rifle sold at box stores. I bought it around 1986 and paid $199 for it if memory serves. I got it from a long gone retail store called Service Merchandise. Anyway, I still have it and it "pops" every time. Why am I mentioning this? Well, what most shooters don't know is that Mossberg makes rifles - they also make pistols. I reviewed the Mossberg MC1sc 9mm - it's a handy little pistol. Another rifle, among others they made, that you may not know about is the lever action version of the Winchester 1892 Carbine in .30-30. They sell a lot of these. So what's going on with this AR? A lot, it seems.

I usually save the target(s) for the end of my reviews, but let's go there first this time. I really enjoyed shooting this carbine and I am a shooter so that tells me something.
I took the rifle to my shooting table in my backyard before it started raining - no complaints, we need the rain - but I didn't want to get it or get too wet. Anyway, I'm currently out of factory .223/5.56 ammo, along with all the other calibers I shoot. As we all know, it is a product of time. Let's hope it gets better soon. Anyway, I had a ready handload that worked well in my Del-Ton carbine. It has a Sierra 55-grain SP bullet preceded by 26.0 grains of W844, a military pull-down powder that I bought at an AR store that is unfortunately no longer available. I got this 10 shot group at about 40 yards - I just had the sights open so I didn't want to push the range. I'm not the best shooter on the block. In any case, Lode liked the gun and vice versa. It hit a left one with a center grip, but kept the gauge as it wasn't my gun. I believe that if you've laid eyes on this beast (or at least given it a red dot), you'll have an M.O.A.-or-close shooter on hand. With a few factory loads to choose from, this gun will really shine. The rifle will also support heavy bullets. The 6-pound plus trigger didn't help my accuracy efforts. Add an improved trigger and it gets really good. That being said, this is a sweet shooter.
Ar 15 Lighter 16”
MMR uses a direct impingement gas system. I reviewed some of the best ARs and talked a bit about gas systems - you can read that here. I don't claim to be an expert on such things, but I do know a thing or two about what makes these guns work. The following photos show some of the features of this gun. I liked everything except the trigger - 6 pounds and it was too heavy for accurate shooting. But in these rifles, the triggers are easily replaced, so this is not a problem.
Note, there is no roll assist or dust cover. The bolt is bolted and ready for further support, but many ARs today come without these components because many manufacturers choose not to include them in their new builds.
There's no mistaking who made this gun, that's for sure. It's nice to see an old, reliable maker's mark on a weapon.
Both sights are easily removed with large screws. I left them alone and didn't try to add other sights.

The large circular knurled wheel is for coarse adjustment, while the small wheel is for fine adjustment.
According to the instructions for use, it has two apertures, one large for shooting at short distances and one for short distances.
I had no problems with the gas system. Reliability was excellent with no feeding or extraction errors. The gun handled very well — the M-LOK sleeve allowed the gun to sit on the gun bag without any problems. I used a military grade 20 round magazine to fire the gun from the bench, but the factory one allowed loading and unloading without any problems. I will believe it unconditionally. Every detail about this gun seems to scream "quality" - from the excellent grip and other furniture to the steel sights, I couldn't find anything that would fall short of it. If Mossberg dropped the trigger a little from the six pounds it is now – even four pounds would help – this carbine would go a long way toward being ready to go out of the box.
The omission of the forward assist piston is something I would worry about if I hadn't seen so many new ARs without this feature. Considering that the assistant was added to help with gunplay in the jungles of Vietnam, I'm not sure that omission is such a bad thing. Only you can decide if this is a deal breaker...it wouldn't be for me. It was serviceable when it came out, but once the barrels started being chrome plated and the guns were properly cleaned and oiled, there was little need for it. The same philosophy applies to the lack of a dust cover... most applications don't need it. If you want these features and other upgrades, you can always opt for the MMR Pro version. Retailing for $1,435, this rifle is built from the ground up for 3-gun competition and includes a forward assist, dust cover, and many other upgrades. You can research this gun here. For a less expensive, more basic AR, there's nothing wrong with an MMR - only you can decide what features you want on your gun.
Mossberg 715t 22lr Review: It Looks Like An Ar 15 (but Clearly Isn't)
The main improvement I would make to this gun would be to change the trigger. The Pro model has a 4-lb. Trigger - I don't understand why they can't put a trigger in this gun. I understand that companies like to offer features above and beyond what's on a standard model gun to sell upgraded guns, but the trigger is something that has to be right or the rest of the gun doesn't matter. In any case, this is my opinion. The gun shoots well as is, but if you give it a better trigger, it will shoot even better.
Looking for a starter AR in 5.56 or maybe stick to another top caliber? go there I have seen rifles priced higher than this that do not have the features of this carbine. From the iron sights to the fully functional collapsible hoofs, I believe you could do a lot worse for an AR purchase. Buy this gun and stick a suitable scope or other optic on it and be on your way
